Whatever Happens, Happens for a Reason

My belief in this principle keeps getting stronger.

One of my close friends had been interning at an information services company for over 8 months. Her managers loved her work, commitment and initiative. Inspite of this consistent performance and an explicit expression of interest to work at the company, the company did not extend her a full-time offer.

Her anxiety levels were very high and she was struggling on what to do to secure employment. Conversations with her managers resulted in nothing but an advice to hold on to the internship as long as she could.

Last week, the company went through a major restructuring exercise and laid off 30% of its employee base. Many of the employees who were asked to leave were newly hired employees.

As my friend was an intern and not an employee, she was outside the required headcount targets and was saved from the laying off process.

Now she was able to understand and appreciate her manager's master plan and appreciate why it was in her interest that she was not on the pay-roll.

So, my dear friends, don't fret, don't worry - Just Act! Rest will follow. Do not let your actions be influenced by even an iota of intertia or doubt in the master plan.
